Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
When Moyes turned up first time I believed we had more chance of escaping relegation with him at the helm than if we had stuck with Lurch.

I was both surprised and disappointed that our owners did not extend his contract.

Second time around and I was happy for Moyes to return and now we can see with time what sort of a manager Moyes can be.

Btw, I don’t think that any manager could have kept Sunderland up the season Moyes failed to.

The ones who approved his second appointment were few and far between.

I'm not going to pretend I was one of them!

Whether fans were happy or not the second time around being as the position we were in there were precious few alternatives, to Moyes, who could stabilise and keep our team safe in th EPL.

Hold my hands up and admit I was completely wrong about him. Mind you never felt so good to be so wrong!

Remember getting into a healthy long drawn out debate with a china of mine about why I thought Moyes would probably go down as our worst ever managerial appointment. To be fair to my mate he said Moyes would be good for all the reasons that have proven to be true, so he either has a mastery understanding of the game or was just pot lucky!

I think that many of the criticisms of Moyes were and still are valid but too much weight was put on his post Everton years, his time there seeming to be of lesser account.

I’m pretty sure a minority wanted him back.

I have no problem with admitting I did not want him back.

I also have no problem admitting that I was wrong.

That’s how grown ups are supposed to work.

Point scoring bollocks is for retards.

Surely we’re all just happy about where we are right now, without trying to point score? Are we all 12?

Also worth noting that his coaching team have a lot to do with our progress also. Not taking away from Moyes, but the whole team need to be recognised.

I said it was uninspiring to get him back, but delighted to be proved wrong. A squad that looked slow and lacking the legs of other teams is now a fit powerhouse of a squad and well organised. Well done Moysie.

I wasn't really in favour of his first appointment, but after he'd steadied the ship and done a decent job I thought the least he deserved was a couple more years to show us what he could do. So I was pissed off that he was allowed to go and be replaced by a Chilean old codger who was only here to top up his pension.

Anyway, none of us are always right. I thought Slav would make a great manager, but look how that turned out.

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
I was probably more appreciative than many of what he did the first time around but fully supported ditching him for what turned out to be the Chilean fraud.
Thought his return was a backward step especially as he had been unable to find anyone to take him on since he'd worked for us.
His work at Real Sociedad & Sunderland seemed to mark him as a man past his sell by date.

The reality after the gap in football due to COVID has been frankly astounding.
I like many am flabbergasted. His work with his staff and the camaraderie of the players and throughout the club has been exceptional.
I don't imagine ANYONE saw this coming

Wasnt keen on Moyes but anyone who still doesn't rate him needs their head tested.

Me?

Always thought that both appointments were to ensure we finished no lower than 17th each season. That really was the message I was getting from the board - premier league survival is all (that matters).

Thankfully, our Mr. Moyes seems to have higher ambitions and in pursuit of those he appears to have fucked the board out of fiddling with the team/squad.

Leave some humble pie for me, please.

Re: Where do the Moyes critics stand now.
Met him in my local six weeks after he left us. He was delighted that I went over and spoke with him; he nodded to his entourage, they left us alone and we had a good Hammers chat.

He was distraught at not being kept on and felt that he had unfinished business that he truly would never get to finish - funny old game, eh! We posed for photos and he happily did the crossed hammers sign - he said he loved the club and always would do.

Jesus - what a job this man has done! I’ve been a fan since 1980 and Moyes has made us harder to beat than anyone else in that time; the spirit seems unique, too.

When Moyes’ career is over, it will be West Ham - not Everton - that he is remembered for; I tell you now and that is all!

I didn't want him as our manager. I was wrong. Happily so.
